Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Salary and Benefits
The position offers a competitive remuneration package as follows:
- Basic Salary: Starting at Ksh 46,120, with incremental rises up to Ksh 65,860.
- Allowances:
- Commuter Allowance: Kshs. 6,000 per month.
- House Allowance: Based on the region of deployment.
- Leave Allowance: Kshs. 6,000 annually.
- Leave Entitlement: 30 working days per year.
Duties and Responsibilities
This role is the entry and training grade for the State Counsel cadre. Under the guidance of senior officers, the State Counsel may be assigned to any of the technical divisions, including but not limited to:
- Civil Litigation
- Legislative Drafting
- Justice and Constitutional Affairs
- Public Legal Services
- Government Legal Services
- Advocates Complaints Commission
- Regional Offices
Requirements
To qualify for appointment as State Counsel (CSG 9), candidates must have:
- Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from a recognized institution.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
- Admission as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
