Roles and Responsibilities

In more detail, the areas of responsibility include:

· Assisting the team in the preparation of standard transaction documentation for banking, finance & insolvency matters.

· Assisting the team in the preparation of step plans, matter checklists and completion bibles for banking & finance matters.

· Analyzing transaction documents and confirming that the formalities at each stage of the transaction have been done correctly.

· Preparing correspondence relating to banking, finance and insolvency matters.

· Maintaining timely and accurate internal and external status reports on the transactional progress made on relevant banking, finance & insolvency matters.

· Preparing stamp duty generation guides and other guides related to raising processes.

· Preparing and issuing lawyer-approved instructions to the registry service providers.

· Following up with the independent registry service providers and maintaining accurate and timely status reports on the transactional progress of banking, finance& insolvency matters.

· Preparing complete instructions/memos to the independent registry service providers, review the invoices from the independent registry service providers to ensure that they correspond with the approved instructions and purchase orders.

· Assisting the lawyers to undertake any file and account reconciliations on matters.

· Conducting company searches, land searches and other due diligence searches utilizing digital registry systems.

· Maintaining and organizing legal records, ensuring they are up-to-date and easily accessible.

· Ensuring all closed matters are archived based on the laid down procedures of the firm.

· Perform other tasks as deemed appropriate by the firm.

The role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, with travel within and outside East Africa.

Experience and personal qualities

This role will require a detail-oriented, organized, and efficient person to support the team.

The following experience is preferred:

· Must have a Diploma in law (Paralegal studies) from a recognised institution.

· A minimum of at least three (3) years of relevant work experience of progressive working.

· Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

· Must have considerable experience on the Ardhisasa and Business Registration Service platform.

· Must have considerable experience dealing with the land registries across the country and the companies registry.

· Must be analytical, detail and result oriented individual.

· Must have excellent computer skills and proficient in excel and word programmes and document management.

· Must have the ability to work within strict deadlines and limited supervision.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly with a range of people from diverse backgrounds.

· Must have a sound understanding of the legal profession.

· Must be very organised and good in time management.
