Purpose Of This Role

D-tree is dedicated to driving impactful innovation as a core strategy for enhancing health outcomes in underserved communities. To ensure our future success, we are prioritizing the strengthening of our innovation pillar by building internal capacity, fostering a culture of creativity and continuous improvement, and establishing strategic partnerships with external innovators and funders.

While D-tree doesn’t maintain a traditional organization-owned product or service portfolio, our diverse projects and programs present valuable opportunities to integrate a more deliberate and cohesive approach to product and service management. As we enter our next phase of growth, it is essential that we refine how we develop, deliver, and sustain digital health solutions across all projects, programs, and country offices.

This role is pivotal in driving these efforts forward. By embedding innovation deeper into our operations and laying the groundwork for a more unified approach to product management, this position will ensure that our solutions are not only cutting-edge but also scalable and sustainable. Strengthening our innovation capacity now is crucial to securing our future success and expanding our impact.

Job Responsibilities

Innovation

  • Lead the expansion and optimization of D-tree’s innovation pipeline by identifying, developing, and advancing internal initiatives and external partnerships. Ensure a continuous flow of impactful innovations that drive our mission forward.
  • Collaborate with D-tree’s departments and country teams to secure funding and ensure that all innovative solutions are strategically aligned with the organization’s goals.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation by leading initiatives that encourage creativity, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration across the organization.

Product & Service Management

  • Create and drive a unified product/service vision and strategy, identifying and capitalizing on opportunities across projects and country offices to enhance consistency and impact.
  • Support program managers in aligning teams with product features and roadmaps, ensuring that all efforts are coordinated to maximize efficiency and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Offer expert guidance to program teams on best practices in product management, focusing on key elements such as user needs, scalability, and sustainability.

Business Development

  • Drive the strategic expansion of D-tree’s innovation-driven funding stream by proactively identifying, cultivating, and securing partnerships with donors, innovation funders, and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development plan tailored to innovation projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and market needs.
  • Establish and maintain a strong pipeline of potential funding opportunities, leveraging insights from market trends and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

  • Master Degree in a relevant field (e.g. innovation or product management)
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working in the digital primary and community health space
  • Experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Experience working with multicultural and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience living in a country of operations and speaking the local languages is a plus
