Garissa County government through the County Public Service Board has announced 13 vacancies in the health and sanitation department.

The first set includes pharmacists and pharmaceutical technologists.
Candidates applying for these roles must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
Their key responsibilities will involve dispensing medicine, offering drug-related guidance, and preparing prescriptions.
Registration with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board and a valid practising license are essential for applicants.
In addition to pharmacists, the county is also looking to fill 5 posts for Pharmaceutical Technologists.
These professionals will assist in preparing and dispensing medication, along with offering drug information to patients.
Applicants must hold a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology and be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
Garissa County is also seeking registered Clinical Officers. With a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery, candidates will provide clinical services, including diagnostic and therapeutic care. Registration with the Clinical Officers Council is necessary.
The county is also looking to strengthen its nursing staff, with three nursing officer positions open for applicants with a degree in Nursing or midwifery from a recognized institution. Their responsibilities will include providing nursing care, assessing patients, and implementing healthcare interventions.
Similarly, there are posts for Registered Nurses, who will primarily work in hospitals and clinics, providing basic nursing services.
A diploma in nursing or midwifery from an accredited institution and registration by the Nursing Council of Kenya is mandatory. 30 enrolled nurses, who will primarily work in hospitals and clinics, providing basic nursing services.
A certificate in nursing from an accredited institution is required, along with registration by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
In addition to these general medical roles, Garissa County is also seeking to fill various specialized positions. Seven Medical Laboratory Technologists are needed to handle laboratory tests, interpret data, and ensure proper disease diagnosis.
Candidates must possess a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences and be registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board. Assistant Health Records & Information Management Officer with 4 posts.
This specialized role requires applicants to manage patient data and ensure proper documentation of health records.
A diploma in Health Records and Information Management is essential. Health Records & Information Management Assistant III with 3 Posts. These assistants will handle duties such as receiving and registering patients, retrieving medical records, updating registers, and ensuring confidentiality of patient data.
Applicants need a certificate in Health Records and Information Technology and relevant certification from the Association of Medical Records Officers of Kenya.
Also advertised are 5 posts for the Medical Engineering Technologist III. This role involves managing, maintaining, and repairing medical and hospital equipment, plants, and facilities.
Candidates must have a Diploma in Medical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. The radiographer’s position with 4 posts will provide imaging services to patients, maintain imaging equipment, and ensure proper record-keeping of radiographic and photographic supplies.
A diploma in Diagnostic Radiography or a related field is required for this role. Lastly, 4 Orthopedic Trauma Technician posts, where the successful candidates will assist in managing fractures, dislocations, and other musculoskeletal injuries.
A diploma in orthopaedic technology from a recognized institution is required for this role. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit hard-copy applications to the Garissa County Public Service Board.
