A Google software engineer named Anu Sharma recently shared a rejection letter from a startup where she applied for a job, and the reason given for her rejection was unusual—she was “too good” for the role.

The company further explained that candidates with qualifications higher than what a job requires often find the work unfulfilling, leading to dissatisfaction and a higher likelihood of leaving soon after joining.

“Didn’t know you could be rejected for being too good,” she wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter)

“Where did you apply btw? Wipro? Companies usually follow same template rejections to all,” a user asked.
