Associate Professor Nursing

KEMU/AA/1/11/2024

Requirements:

  • Must have a Doctorate degree in Nursing field from a recognized/accredited institution;
  • Must have at least 3 years of teaching and research experience since becoming aSenior Lecturer; or Senior Researcher/Industry experience or equivalent;
  • Must have at least 48 publication points since attaining a position of a Senior Lecturer; or Senior Researcher/Industry experience or equivalent of which at least thirty two (32) should be from refereed scholarly journals;
  • Supervised a minimum of four (4) post-graduate students to completion, including at least one doctoral student;
  • Must have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars or workshops;
  • Must be recognized and registered by Nursing Council of Kenya. Evidence of affiliation to a professional body will be an added advantage;
  • Must show evidence or contribution to community, national and international life.
  • Must show evidence of contribution to University life through participation in Departmental matters, students’ academic advising, school and university meetings, membership and others;
  • Must show evidence of having attracted research or development funds as Senior Lecturer/Senior Research fellow.

Senior Lecturer for Nursing

Requirements:

  • Must have an earned PhD. Degree in Nursing or its equivalent in the nursing from a recognized academic institution;
  • Must have at least three (3) years of university teaching at the level of a full time Lecturer;
  • Must have at least four (4) articles in refereed journals since becoming a Lecturer. OR at least one (1) refereed book in candidate’s professional area published by recognized publishers, plus two (2) articles, OR at least (3) distinguished exhibition, performances or original creation, plus one (1) article in a refereed journal since becoming a lecture;
  • Should show evidence of supervision of postgraduate students;
  • Should have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars or workshops;
  • Must be a registered member of Nursing Council Kenya;
  • Should have evidence of contribution to university life through active participation in Departmental and Faculty activities and good quality teaching attendance of meetings, student academic advising and committee membership.

Lecturer for Nursing

Requirements
:

  • Must have an earned PhD. in Nursing or their equivalents from a recognized academic institution

OR

  • Master’s degree in nursing or their equivalents from a recognized academic institution;
  • Teaching in a University or working in a hospital setting or research experience at university level after obtaining a Master’s degree is added advantage;
  • Must have evidence of publication;
  • Must be a registered member of Nursing Council Kenya;

Lecturer for Strategic Management

Requirements:

  • Must have an earned PhD. in Strategic Management or their equivalents from a recognized academic institution

OR

  • Master’s degree in Strategic Management or their equivalents from a recognized academic institution;
  • Teaching experience at university level or working in a management position for at least five years after obtaining a Master’s degree is added advantage;
  • Must have evidence of publication;
  • A registered member of a relevant professional body (where applicable).

Duties and Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of a Lecturer are as follows:

  • Teaching and evaluation of undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Setting, moderating, administering, processing and marking examinations
  • Academic advising and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Articulating the Vision and Mission of the University, Department and the Faculty
  • Initiating, planning and conducting research
  • Development of teaching and learning materials
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in research activities. Developing research proposals for funding
  • Participate in meetings and conferences related to research and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department
  • Participating in preparation of Department and Faculty strategic plans
  • Organizing and supervising educational activities for undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Attending and participating in seminars, workshops, conferences etc, in relevant fields
  • Participating in administrative, academic and consultancy activities in Department and other organizations
  •  Participating in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of curricula in the Department
  • Attending and participating in the Departmental meetings and other activities for effective and efficient management of the Department and Faculty
  • Performing any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Head of Department, Dean of Faculty or other Chief Officer of the University inaccordance with the University  Statute

  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;

  • Certificate of Good Conduct from Criminal Investigation Department;
  •  Letters of recommendation (in sealed envelopes) from at least three persons familiar with the applicant’s professional experience and general character one of whom must be the pastor of their local church.
