The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is inviting applications for various positions, as outlined in the October 2024 external vacancies announcement. The roles range from managerial positions such as Deputy Director, Planning and Strategy, and Deputy Director, Internal Audit, to support roles like Human Resource Management Assistant and Driver.
1. Deputy Director, Planning and Strategy (KNEC Grade 3) – 1 Post
- Responsibilities: Develop and implement the Council’s strategic plan, manage performance, conduct monitoring and evaluation, policy development, and risk analysis.
- Qualifications: 12 years of relevant experience, Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in fields like Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Public Policy/Administration, Strategic Management, or related. Proficiency in computer applications and membership to a professional body.
2. Deputy Director, Internal Audit (KNEC Grade 3) – 1 Post
- Responsibilities: Manage audit functions, ensure compliance with internal control systems, coordinate risk-based audits, and conduct internal audit activities.
- Qualifications: 12 years of experience, Master’s in Auditing, Business Administration, or related field, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), membership in IIA and ICPAK.
3. Assistant Director, Planning and Strategy (KNEC Grade 4) – 1 Post
- Responsibilities: Supervise corporate strategy, risk analysis, and performance management. Develop, review, and monitor the Council’s strategic plans.
- Qualifications: 10 years of relevant experience, Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Public Policy/Administration, or related field. Membership in a professional body.
4. Assistant Director, School Assessments – Languages (KNEC Grade 4) – 1 Post
- Responsibilities: Manage and supervise language assessments, participate in curriculum development, and train setters and moderators.
- Qualifications: 10 years of experience, Bachelor’s degree in Education with specialization in Languages or equivalent, plus a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
5. Assistant Director, School Assessments – Mathematics and Science (KNEC Grade 4) – 1 Post
- Responsibilities: Manage and supervise mathematics and science assessments, develop assessment tools, and align curriculum designs with assessments.
- Qualifications: 10 years of relevant experience in Mathematics and Science, Bachelor’s in Education with specialization in these subjects, Master’s degree, and management course.
6. Principal Examinations Officer (KNEC Grade 5) – 5 Posts
- Responsibilities: Oversee test development, alignment of syllabuses with assessments, participate in awards and grading, ensure security of examination materials.
- Qualifications: 8 years of experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant field, Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
7. Principal Human Resource Management Officer (KNEC Grade 5) – 1 Post
- Responsibilities: Supervise HRM functions, manage payroll, employee benefits, and industrial relations, ensure compliance with HR policies.
- Qualifications: 8 years of experience, Master’s in Human Resource Management or Business Administration, Bachelor’s in HRM or Social Sciences with a Diploma in HRM.
8. Examinations Administrator (KNEC Grade 7) – 6 Posts
- Responsibilities: Guide Examinations Assistants, handle registration, verification, packing, and dispatch of assessment materials.
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant discipline plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Education.
9. Research and Quality Assurance Officer (KNEC Grade 7) – 3 Posts
- Responsibilities: Conduct research, monitor the impact of assessment programs, develop research instruments, collect and analyze data.
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
10. Supply Chain Management Assistant (KNEC Grade 9) – 3 Posts
- Responsibilities: Maintain stock records, monitor supplies, and ensure proper management of inventory.
- Qualifications: Diploma in Supplies Management or equivalent, member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management.
11. Human Resource Management Assistant (KNEC Grade 9) – 2 Posts
- Responsibilities: Assist in HR functions, maintain HR records, support recruitment, selection, and payroll processing.
- Qualifications: Diploma in Human Resource Management or related field.
12. Examinations Assistant (KNEC Grade 9) – 10 Posts
- Responsibilities: Assist in examination management, verify registration data, and dispatch materials.
- Qualifications: Diploma in Education, ICT, or Records Management.
13. Assistant Office Administrator (KNEC Grade 9) – 2 Posts
- Responsibilities: Provide secretarial support, maintain office security, manage appointments and documentation, handle telephone calls.
- Qualifications: Diploma in Secretarial Studies, proficient in typing (50 w.p.m.), and shorthand (80 w.p.m.).
14. Driver (KNEC Grade 11) – 2 Posts
- Responsibilities: Manage transport services, conduct routine vehicle checks, ensure safety, and maintain vehicle records.
- Qualifications: KCSE D+, valid Class BCE or FG driving license, Defensive Driving Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and at least 4 years of relevant experience.
