Vacancies for Teacher Interns in Junior Secondary Schools – October 2024
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 20,000 teacher internship positions in Junior Secondary Schools to support the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

Position Details: Junior Secondary Teacher Interns (Regular & SNE Schools)
Minimum Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan citizen.
- Education: Diploma in Education with a minimum mean grade of C+ in KCSE and C+ in two teaching subjects.
- Registration: Must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.
Additional Notes
- For equivalent qualifications, consult the TSC website (www.tsc.go.ke).
- Teachers trained in Technical Learning Areas/Subjects with TSC Registration Numbers are encouraged to apply.
General Information
- Application: Only online applications will be accepted.
- Eligibility: Applicants must be unemployed and have no previous disciplinary record with TSC.
- Documentation: Candidates must present original academic and professional certificates during the selection process.
- Insurance Requirement: Selected candidates must have Personal Accident Insurance to cover personal risks during the internship.
- Selection: Based on merit and availability per county. Successful candidates will serve in any Junior Secondary School within their interview county or across Kenya where vacancies exist.
- Verification Requirements:
- Teacher Registration Certificate or TSC portal printout.
- National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card (if applicable).
- National ID or Passport.
- Two passport-size photographs.
- KRA PIN copy.
Teacher Internship Program Overview
The TSC Teacher Internship Programme is a 12-month program aimed at equipping and enhancing competencies for new entrants to the teaching profession through mentorship, coaching, and practical teaching experience.
- Monthly Stipend: Interns will receive Kshs. 20,000 per month (subject to statutory deductions).
- Certificate: Awarded upon successful completion of the internship.
